Towards 10 week milestone.

It’s  been 9 weeks +  few days since I touched a cigarette. I was not tempted during quick get together with friends outside Bengaluru.

Have started exercising 15 minutes/day. Need to increase but want to do it for 2 weeks continuously before start upping the ante.

Target to get to 70 by year end. Should be achievable.

Helping mom in kitchen more  and more. Hopefully in some time will  work on my own in kitchen without bothering her.

Summer holidays are nearing, hopefully sis & nieces will come be here  for some time.   It’s  monotonous and boring as of now.

Finally gave away  the seat covers &  few books. Some pending old books were returned. Need to drive more & more simplicity moving forward.

Have to target to sell the Haveri site & Bengaluru flat by end of this year.

Consolidate the bank accounts if possible to 2-3  max.

Reduce clutter give away or sell watches soon.

Helluva smart act !

Maanvi – My younger niece who is in LKG, had not prepared for her oral tests. She could not recite any of the rhymes that were taught to her, 2-3 days prior the tests.

My sis tried her best to prep her but all to no avail & she gave up.

Then this happened.

After Maanvi returned from tests, out of curiosity, sister asked how did she do in tests. Maanvi said, “ I did well”.

Astonished, sister asked “how could you do well as you could not recite single rhyme yesterday?”

“I listened to my classmates reciting rhymes and learnt them & recited when my turn came” Maanvi responds.

Confused. how could she have learnt rhymes during exams & Sister asked her to recite them. Boom!

Maanvi recited all  rhymes as if she knew them all along.

Impressed, super impressed - loads of love Maanu..

Minimalism - Initiated..

Been reading about how you can become minimalist & lead a simpler life for few weeks now.

De-clutter is the buzz word, keep only things that you use or need to live day to day life.

Give away or sell what you don’t  need.  So I started thinking what I don’t need. I found have fabric leather covers stashed away for last 4 years that I have no need for.

So put it up in couple of forums and someone responded. I was thrilled as it would be my first give away ( not in a true sense)  after deciding to become a minimalist.

Interesting stuff happened, while getting it out ,I found another leather bad stashed away which I have been looking for some days and in that bag I found a leather belt & my PAN card.

Moved 6 months back and I was about to buy a leather belt & apply for new PAN card.  Saved time & money on both those counts.

Happy to give away more.

Have put few books in diff forums to give away, got responses.   Hopefully will reduce more & more. Plan is to get really simple  by end of 2016.  Give away some stuff or other each day/week is the mantra.

Mistakes that I learnt from !

Another Friday, another week gone!

It's  4th week since I quit smoke. Feels good.

Need to adopt simple living and continue to learn about finance & how to make right investments  for future.

It's full week of being alone, am not getting desperate like I used after 2-3 days, earlier.

Thought it would be interesting to list down some glaring mistakes in past from which I  have learnt a lot.

  • Buying a super luxury bed ( for my standards) costing in excess of half lac, 6 years ago.
    • Do I get better sleep or has  my standard of sleep improved
      • Am not so sure
  • Car Purchase - There was no need for a car that big.
    • Waste of money, could have bought smaller vehicle & invested rest of money,
  • Purchase of House:
    • This is big one, bought this due to pressures from multiple angles.
    • Super waste of effort and time in maintaining it when am not living there
    • Planning to sell it soon.
  • Bigger rented houses:
    • For some reason, have been living in big rented houses  for some time now, even current one is far bigger than our needs.
    • Need to reduce it when move to next one. Usually have lived in a place around 2.5 years on an average
    • Moving helps to reduce clutter.
  • Taking term insurance very very late
I think that's enough for you to get started with yours!
